Thermostat Wiring Troubleshooting

If you are requesting help with an unusual or confusing thermostat wiring setup, please include the following details in your email to help us give you the most accurate answer:

A clear photo of your existing thermostat baseplate showing all terminal letters (R, C, W, Y, G, O/B, etc.) and where each wire is attached.
HVAC Equipment Type: Whether your home has a conventional gas/electric furnace and AC, a heat pump (with an outdoor reversing valve), a boiler, or electric baseboard heat.
Brand & Model: The brand and model number of your indoor furnace or air handler and outdoor condenser/heat pump, if known.
Target Thermostat: Which smart thermostat model you plan to install (e.g., Nest Learning 4th Gen, ecobee Premium, Honeywell T9).
Control Board Photo: If accessible with power switched off, a photo of the low-voltage screw terminals on your furnace's main control board is extremely helpful.
