Affiliate & Advertising Disclosure

Transparency is essential. This page explains how ThermostatWires is funded through affiliate programs and advertising, and why that never compromises our editorial standards.

FTC Disclosure Compliance

In accordance with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines concerning the use of endorsements and testimonials in advertising (16 CFR Part 255), this disclosure informs you that ThermostatWires contains affiliate links and third-party advertisements.

Amazon Associates Program

ThermostatWires is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for websites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

When you click on an Amazon link on our site and make a purchase, Amazon pays us a small referral commission. This occurs at no extra cost to you—the price you pay on Amazon is identical whether you use our link or navigate to Amazon directly.

Google AdSense Display Advertising

We display third-party advertisements served by Google AdSense across our website. These ads pay for hosting, the photo reader and the domain, so the wiring tools and diagrams stay free and need no account.

How recommendations stay independent

Our business relationships with Amazon and Google do not affect the wiring verdicts, compatibility ratings, or safety advisories provided by ThermostatWires:

• Algorithmic Compatibility: Every thermostat is graded using deterministic rules based solely on official manufacturer wiring specifications. A thermostat will never be marked "compatible" or receive a higher score simply because it has a higher price or higher commission rate.
• Safety First: If a wiring configuration requires an adapter, extra wire, or professional installation, our system states that clearly—even if that recommendation discourages an immediate hardware purchase.
• No Sponsored Reviews: We do not accept sponsored reviews or paid product placements from smart thermostat manufacturers, and we don’t show star ratings or “best pick” badges we can’t verify.
• Ads are labeled: Google ads are served by Google and are not endorsements. Affiliate recommendations are labeled “Affiliate link” and marked rel="sponsored".
